Welcome back to Coffee With Bedside! We are so happy with how this series is going and hope that you are enjoying it as well. Please remember, we want to continue to hear from you! Send any questions to [email protected] and we will add them to the queue.
How do you know if you need a regular or low profile box spring?
When buying a new mattress you will also need to consider the box spring that you plan to purchase to fit your bed. The standard height size for a box spring is 8” and will work on most beds. Many beds today, though, are lower to the ground, so you may need to consider a low-profile box spring.
Royal Pedic, the mattress brand we carry at Bedside Manor Ltd, carries two box springs, regular and low-profile (6″) that are available upon request. Both box springs will create an extra layer of support to the bed. Please note: purchasing a low-profile vs. a regular box spring will not compromise the comfort or support from your mattress.
As stated above, many beds in the industry are low-profile so to achieve this look and not take away from the bed design, you may want to purchase the lower box spring. In addition, many mattresses are so high off the ground with added toppers, thicker mattresses, etc. people prefer to purchase the low-profile to take a couple inches of height. Either way, we are available to consult and help you make your decision!
Can you explain the difference between King and Cal King?
The difference between a Cal King and King is in the dimensions. A Califorina king is going to be longer at 84” and 72” wide. An Eastern King bed is 80” x 76”. If you are tall, we recommend going with a Cal King.
The only difference in the bedding will be the fitted sheet. For example, you will need to purchase a Cal King Fitted sheet but can buy King Flat, King Duvet, King Blanket, etc.
I love floral prints but don’t want my bed to be completely printed or too feminine. How do I achieve this look?
Floral prints are so beautiful in the bedroom! Many prints can be very sophisticated and subtle without being too feminine. If you want a subtle print you can look for one with a white background. Here are a few options: Alexandra by Matouk, Pavot by Yves Delorme, or the Chloe by Peacock Alley.
If you don’t want to commit to the whole duvet, purchase just shams for a pop of pattern! Another way you can add some print to the bed is with decorative pillows. The Shanghai Garden by Designers Guild is so popular at Bedside Manor! It is neutral but still has a lovely floral print.
See you next week!
