The Bedside Guide To Washing Your Fine Linens
Did you know that the majority of our sheets are what we consider livable luxury? Meaning they should be slept in, washed, dried, and well loved for many years, without the hassle of dry cleaning.
With that being said, we do still recommend that your linens are properly cared for at home in order to extend the life of your sheets. We stand behind our products – which are made to last – when properly washed and cared for.
Read below to discover our wash and care guidelines for your luxury linens:
Step 1: Read the label to confirm what fabric your sheeting is made of. Most linens are made from cotton – which can be washed safely and beautifully within your own home. If your bedding notes “Dry Clean Only” then please follow those instructions. And if you are unsure, give us a call and we can help guide you!
Step 2: Purchase Fine Linen Wash. Our best selling Private Label Linen Wash and SDH Fine Linen Wash are the best available options – and are always well stocked in our stores for easy convenience. Just remember – a little goes a long way when washing! We typically recommend two cap fulls per each load. It may seem like too little, but this detergent is highly concentrated and works magic with only a small amount.
Step 3: Machine washing is the best way to care for our luxury linens as it not only restores the loft and volume of the fabric, but it actually accentuates the inherent texture and luster of the natural fibers. We recommend machine wash on gentle cycle with warm water for optimal results. Spin thoroughly and remove from the washer promptly.
Step 4: Shake out your sheets and place them in the dryer on tumble dry using a low temperature, gentle cycle. We caution to never “overdry” your sheets. You do not want them to come out of the dryer burning hot or crisp. Instead a little cool to the touch is the perfect way to determine they are ready to come out.
Step 5: If you are using your sheets right away, go ahead and make your bed (…and your night – nothing better than fresh sheets!). If you are stowing away, be sure to fold them and place in a cool linen closet out of direct sunlight.
Step 6: Enjoy!
And read below for a few additional tips:
• It’s best to wash your pieces separately to give them plenty of water and adequate space.
• Do not use any brighteners, bleaches or fabric softeners.
• Set the wash cycle to spin-dry thoroughly and remove from the washer at once. Leaving them wet will cause the fibers to shrink or felt.
• Do not over-dry natural fibers as it will alter their shape, increase wrinkles and make the fabric brittle.
We hope you enjoy your wonderful new bedding! And if you have any questions, reach out to a team member and we can help! We look forward to seeing you soon.
